Compassionate Communication for Pairs offers an overview of Marshall Rosenberg's Compassionate Communication, a communication tool for cultivating empathy and understanding for self and others. The workshop includes an introduction to the four elements of Compassionate Communication (observation, feelings, needs, and requests). Particular emphasis will be on identifying feelings and needs, which are at the heart of this communication tool and key to understanding oneself and others.
It is designed for you and another person you’re close to (a partner, parent, teenage or older child, close friend, etc.) to practice using the skills immediately to address or begin to address an issue that has caused misunderstanding or conflict, so that you may work toward strategies to meet the needs at the heart of the issue.
In this workshop participants will:
· Learn the basic structure and philosophy of Compassionate Communication
· Increase self-awareness and understanding, particularly in conflict situations
· Increase awareness and capacity for understanding the perspective of your companion (and others after the workshop)
· Practice the skills in real time and leave with new tools
Because this workshop is offered during the dinner hour, a simple vegetarian meal will be included about an hour into the workshop.
