I am a teacher. I don't pretend to be an all-knowing distributor of knowledge and wisdom. I am constantly reminded of how much there is still to learn...and practice.
But I love to share what I do know, what I have learned, what clarity has come thus far in my life of learning, what has made my heart grow like the Grinch at the end of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
I love to share tools and information that inspire me to nurture my own growth process and that of others. I love to invite people into processes that shine light into darkness (sometimes our own), strengthen our interconnection, and make it a little easier to love...ourselves, other people, and the world we live in. I love to be both teacher and student and to encourage others to live into these roles, too.
My teaching journey began with teaching Spanish, and along the way I've meandered through the territory of Catholic Social Teaching, Morality, English as a Second Language, a Spirituality Seminar, and most recently classes on compassion, nonviolence, and nonviolent communication with children, high school and college students, and adults. I've also written or co-written programs for JustFaith Ministries on the intersection of faith and justice, Christian-Muslim dialogue, and nonviolence from a Christian perspective.
Currently, my teaching focuses on compassion, nonviolence, and compassionate communication. Below are my current class and workshop offerings.
